Week in review

Well, last weekend at the hotel feels like a year ago, as opposed to the 5 scant days ago that it was.

We had a great time.  Some friends came over for games on Saturday night.  Other than the girls getting in trouble for accidentally prank calling the front desk, it went well.

Sunday morning, Steve and I had nursery at church--those little kids sure are cute!  We're losing a couple of them in a few weeks, when they move up to the pre-K class.

Maddie's friend, Bethany, came back to the hotel with us.  After lunch, Steve took the kids to check out the pool.  I was feeling pretty exhausted, and just a bit sick, so I laid down on the couch.  JUST as I fell asleep, the whole gang came back to get their swimsuits.  They left to go swim.  And then JUST as I was nodding off again, housekeeping showed up.  I told them to do whatever needed to be done (which included vacuuming and running the dishwasher), and JUST as I was drifting off, the rest of Bethany's family showed up.  Ah well.

We had meatball subs, pigs in a blanket, chips, and such as we geared up for the Super Bowl. And on that matter, I have nothing more to say.  We are in mourning.  A sincere congratulations, though, goes out to the New York Giants--they played a hell of a game.  And how upset can I be, really, when a boy named Eli wins a Super Bowl ring?

Monday morning Steve headed out to work, and after sleeping in, the kids and I packed up and headed home (all of a 2 mile journey).  I have to confess here to being a total homebody.  I couldn't wait to get home.

This week has been busy for me.  Twice a year, my Pampered Chef cluster has a seasonal kick off meeting.  Our new catalog comes out on March 1st, so our meeting is tomorrow.  We'll sample all of the new recipes (diet, what diet?), see the new products, do recognition, giveaways, and training.  I'm making a Chicken, Avocado & Spinach salad with Grapefruit Vinegarette dressing.

It's a lot to get ready for though, and I'm not feeling really prepared.  I still have to complete my training segment, type up handout notes, and double check the team members who need recognition.  My product donation bags are all ready, as are the consultant folders I've made for me team.  I'll be out the door at 8am tomorrow.

I have some good news regarding the hotel gift certificates that we redeemed last weekend.  We have $200 leftover, and I found out this week that I can spend them at the gift shop at the Newport Marriott!  So once the meeting is over tomorrow, I'll head to Newport and go shopping!  How fun!

Last Tuesday, we went to Newport to visit my parents at their timeshare.  My mom took the girls to make a craft, while my dad took Eli to play in the arcade.  We usually go swimming in the indoor pool, but the kids had just been swimming at our hotel pool, so we skipped that.  I got to sit and read a book--"Starburst" by Robin Pilcher.  I loved it. (Getting to sit by myself AND the book!)

Afterwards we went out to dinner--very relaxing!

Wednesday night, the kids had Awana.  Maddie finished her first book!  Wooo Hoo!  Eli's not too far behind her.  The kids are loving their teachers & friends, and I'm so happy we signed them up for this!  It did, this week, though, make for another late night, so everyone was in bed early on Thursday!

Speaking of Thursday, I finally got into the girls' room to clean!  I feel like no matter how much training I give them, they both tend to be very messy little girls.  A very messy room just doesn't bother them!  And it drives me nuts.  So we took over 2 hours, and thoroughly cleaned.  We went through their drawers and got rid of ruined or too small clothing, threw out all of their "junk" (they both keep EVERYTHING!), vacuumed, organized......we were all beat once we were done.

Last night was a work night for me.  I didn't have to go out, but I had a ton of paperwork to do. I was supposed to have a show tonight, but that's been postponed until 2 weeks from now.  I'm sure that's for the best, because I'm really not feeling well.  My throat is killing me, and I keep coughing.

Today has already been busy.  The kids did their book work (math, spelling, grammer, etc) while I paid some bills, and then we hit the road.  I had to go to Staples, the post office, and the grocery store.  Then I went to CVS after lunch.  I still need to actually do our grocery shopping--the first trip was for the ingredients for tomorrow's salad.  I think I'll wait until Steve gets home so that the kids don't have to come with me.

Once the meeting is over tomorrow, I'm off for the rest of the weekend!  I'm looking forward to putting my feet up--a nap sounds heavenly!
