Ah, the last day of our vacation dawned bright and sunny! And I finally got to pick what we did! After a morning of chess games (I was not playing), we headed to the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta.
Of course we got there just at lunch time, so we hit the Googie Burger for burgers and fries.
Here's Susanna and Emma, enjoying their beverages--Susanna had the gall to once again drink soda in front of me (have I mentioned that it's been 10 weeks since I've had a Diet Coke?). :)
Me and my kiddles
The hazards of bangs + sunglasses--having that flop of hair fall on my forehead.
After lunch it was off to the splash park. My kids weren't into getting wet, but Susanna's kids were ALL OVER THIS. :) It was so much fun.
Micah, predictably, was the first to take the plunge.
I live in fear of the day Jim gets around to posting pictures--I'm sure I won't like myself in any of them. With any amount of luck, he was focused on his brilliant children.
Love this picture.
This is how Jim looks at people. Kind of like a cross between "You talkin' to ME?" and "I don't understand a thing you're saying." I can say this, because I've known him since he was around 8 years old. And I think he made this face even then. :)
Here is James' gorgeous face. What a cutie.
Emma was totally into this splash park.
I LOVE this. She's basically gesturing at Patience like, "Why are you not coming with me and doing my bidding!?!"
So, of course Patience went. :)
Me & my 'sister from another mister'--love my Susanna.
Squinting...
Somebody pull this boy's pants up, STAT. We call James the 'hipless wonder' because it doesn't matter WHAT pants he's wearing, he always has a plumber's crack. Adorable.
Here is Emma, just screaming with joy as she runs away from the water. We were cracking up at her.
Once the kids had had ample time to play, we headed into the park.
In front of some monument...
Jim, Susanna & the kids
It was an amazing cloud day. Just beautiful.
The boys having a race.
Poor James--he didn't win, and was quite put out by it.
Inconsolable.
Did you call me? :)
My girls--how I love these two.
Jim, taking a break after Eli spanked him in the race.
My man-cub.
Insult to injury--there's a huge Coca-Cola place in Atlanta. I was weeping.
My father has the ability to fall asleep ANYWHERE.
What in the world was James doing while his dad put his shoes on? Caught him at just the right moment, I guess!
Dad, relaxing....
Hamming it up for the camera
I'm still not used to him being taller than me.
There's a Coca-Cola museum right next to the park--I didn't dare go in. I probably would have made a scene. ;)
Enjoying a treat after a fun afternoon.
The other side of that monument thing-y.
After leaving the park, we walked over to the CNN Center--we wanted to hit a gift shop before leaving. Maddie got a cute tote bag (girl after my own heart!).
Since we were headed home the next morning, we stopped at Wal-Mart to stock up on food for the ride home. Then it was back to Susanna's for dinner and a rousing game of Balderdash before bedtime.

We left late the next day--not until 11 am (my stomach was really upset--maybe it was the Googie Burger?). But even with hitting some traffic, we still made it home in 17 hours--the kids and I pulled up to our house around 4:30am.
I'm so glad we go to see our friends--but also so glad to be home. :)
wow, I'm glad I finally got around to checking your blog. Just so happens, Jim is sitting right next to me, and you know your description of him had us both cracking up hysterically.. He says "it's on", and you know what that means.. pictures to come!
