Summer reading

I've got a stack of books to read this summer--thought I'd share what is in the queue.

Lego: A Love Story by Jonathan Bender

This was a really good book!  I absolutely recommend it, even if you're not a Lego maniac.

Becoming Jane Eyre by Sheila Kohler

I wasn't that crazy about this story.  You're better off just going ahead and reading Jane Eyre.

Sizzling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich

Hilarious as always.

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender

I might be stating the obvious, but this book was SO sad.  And weird.  And sad.

Hannah's List by Debbie Macomber

I really do love anything by Debbie Macomber (just read her Orchard Valley Brides and Orchard Valley Grooms), and this novel was delightful.  She has a way of really making you care about the characters.

Prairie Tale by Melissa Gilbert

Wow--Melissa Gilbert swears a lot.  And I didn't realize (being too young at the time to read Teen Beat) that she had been engaged to Rob Lowe. I recently also read Melissa Sue Anderson's (she played Mary on Little House) memoirs of her days on Little House, and it was much more focused on the show.  Melissa Gilbert's book was more about her life.

Warwick's Villages--Glimpses From the Past by Donald A. D'Amato

Gah, didn't get to finish this one before it was due.

Living Oprah by Robyn Okrant

Really interesting!  Robyn spent a year doing everything Oprah told her viewers or readers to do.  Laugh out loud funny at parts, it was a fascinating read.

Little Girl Blue: The Life of Karen Carpenter by Randy L. Schmidt

Another sad book.  What an amazing talent.  I spent the whole book wanting to smack Karen's mother and brother.

These are just the books I currently have out of the library.  There's a whole list still in my requested list, and others that are coming out this summer/fall that I haven't requested yet.
