I cannot wait to get back into a routine again!  The lazy days of summer are here, and I find myself getting nothing done!  I've been working a lot, but not much around the house.  And the kids....they have so much fun playing together, which I'm thankful for, but I'll notice that its almost dinner time, and no chores have been done.

Yesterday was errand day.  I had to pick up a catalog show, drop off a host packet and shop for comfy shoes.  I leave for Chicago in 5 days, and we do a lot of walking at Conference!

Steve came home around 5:15pm, and I convinced him that we should go to the church softball game.  It is so much fun to attend these games (especially since our team is having a winning season!).  I like it more, though, because it gives us relationship-building opportunities with our church family.  We've been attending Calvary Chapel for 3 years now, and I want it to feel like home for my kids.

The game was up in the city (one reason Steve didn't want to go!), on a very busy street.  It's nice to have older kids that I don't have to watch like a hawk.  One friend has a 2yo son, and we all helped keep an eye on him.

On the way home, I needed to stop at the grocery store.  I have a Pampered Chef meeting here at the house tonight, and I needed ingredients for the recipe I'm making.  Wouldn't you know it, the store we stopped at had had a power outage.  I couldn't even get down the frozen food aisle!  They had it blocked off so that people wouldn't let the cold air out!  Understandable, I guess.  So we just went home--I was too tired to hit another store.  I'll go today.

Maddie is going to VBS with a friend today, so we're all up a bit earlier than normal.  She is already getting upset that I'm going to Chicago.  She does this every time I go away (this will be the 4th conference I've attended in 3 years).  Steve will be home with them, they'll be going to the VBS right around the corner....I don't know how to make this easier for her.  She works herself up into this emotional mess. She just had a crying jag because her hair was snarly.  Sigh.  I fixed it, of course, but she's still upset.  My poor girl.

Okay, off to wake Steve up, so that he won't be late for work.  Then I've got to get everyone ready, see Maddie off, go to the grocery store (preferably one with electricity), do book reports with the kids for the Showcase Cinema Bookworm Club (every Wednesday you can see a movie for free if each kid 6+ writes a simple book report--tomorrow is Madagascar), clean the house for my meeting and bake the cake.....Is that all?
