Thanksgiving

Whew, what a crazy, busy few days we've had!  I've shopped til I dropped, eaten too much & decorated the house for Christmas!

We spent Thanksgiving at my Uncle Ray's home.  My Aunt Phyllis is a superb hostess--her home is decorated beautifully, the food is always wonderful....it's a bit daunting at times!  I contributed some homemade Oat Dinner Rolls and corn (Green Giant Shoepeg Corn with Butter Sauce--oh my!) for dinner, and some Swedish Ginger Cookies for dessert (Aunt Phyllis is Swedish; we're all Canadian French).

We actually had a very relaxing morning before going out.  You know, the type of morning where there's a lot you can't do until right before you leave?  So of course,  the last hour, I was a raving lunatic, trying to get everyone ready.  Apparently, Patience has no clothes that fit her, and we dress up so seldom (our church is very casual) that we don't notice that we have no "nice" clothes until the day we need them.  AUGHHH.  It wasn't pretty.

Luckily, everything turned out fine.  Dinner was wonderful & absolutely delicious.  The company was great.  We got to see my cousins Mike & Erin, and meet Erin's boyfriend, George.  My dad whipped Mike in a few games of Ping Pong, which was hilarious.  Mike was so shocked.

My Uncle Buddy & his family came over for dessert and birthday cake for my Uncle Ray.  Uncle Buddy has 2 kids who are more my kids ages than mine.  So they all got to play for a while.

Friday morning I was up at 4am to go shopping.  I hit Toys R Us (Never again!  It was positively claustrophobic in there!), Target, JoAnn's, and the Mill Store.  Over the weekend, I ended up at Wal-Mart and A.C. Moore.  My Christmas shopping is almost done!

I started working on a rag quilt for one of my friends.  I've never made one before--heck, I barely know how to sew, but I'm giving it a shot.  It couldn't look easier.  I cut out all of the flannel squares last night.  Tomorrow night I'll cut out the batting.  Hopefully I'll be sewing by the end of the week.  The quilt needs to be done by 12/17.

We're home from church this morning.  Both of the girls aren't feeling well.  I actually brought Maddie to the dr. on Wednesday, because she was complaining that her ear hurt.  She's still sniffly and stuffy and she's staring to cough at night.  I have to break out the humidifiers!

Steve survived another week working at Toys R Us.  He is so beat, poor guy.  He's sacked out on the couch right now--I don't want to wake him up, but I almost think he'd sleep better if I make him go up to bed.

I have a PC show this afternoon--after I make lunch for the kids I'll shower and get ready for that.  I'm making a Chocolate Raspberry Cookie Trifle--pretty yummy!  Then tonight the Pats are playing, so I'll be up watching that.

Next weekend will be crazy--Steve works Friday/day, I have a PC show in the evening, Steve works 10-6am at TRU, Saturday I have a show at 2pm, then Steve works at TRU at night, Sunday morning is church, and then I have a baby shower to attend, and THEN a PC show at 4:30pm!  EEEEK!  I'll be so happy when the first half of this month is over, and I have a few weeks off of work!

  1. Amanda, you sound so busy! I haven't even thought about Christmas decorating yet! LOL

I hope you post a pic of your rag quilet after it's done! That sounds really neat. Holly
