Cat stories

We own two cats. I've posted about them before--Moses & Selden.  Moses is a mischievous 3 year old boy, while Selden is a more subdued 10 year old man. :)

The other day I went down into our basement, and discovered this:

And boy, was I thankful that the cats had gotten to this little guy before he could a) scare the crap out of me or b) chew through any food boxes that are stored on shelves in the cellar.  So I was very thankful to own cats in that moment.

THEN I went upstairs. And discovered that ONCE AGAIN, the cats had pushed their way out of the kitchen window screen.  AUGHHH~~this is so frustrating.  We cannot leave our window open without them escaping.

We actually had to buy THIS--an extra screen to put into the window, just so that we can open it occasionally.

It goes in the window, like so, and prevents them from getting out (Steve hadn't fixed the main screen when I took this picture--it's back in place now).

Of course, they were exhausted after their adventure.  We don't know how long they were outside, but they were out there when Steve got up for work at 5:30am. (Moses is usually the instigator in getting out.  He was cowering on top of one of our garbage cans while Selden faced off with a neighborhood cat. Gah!)

Then, yesterday, Moses decided to crawl under our desk.  Somehow, he managed to make his way through the mess of wires and electrical cords and worm his way behind the desk to get into the tiny space under the drawers.

Here's the back end of him.

I still don't know how he managed to get out. Sigh.
