A trip to Camelot

Of course, Rhode Island has it's own little gem on the sea, Newport.  Playground of the rich and famous, and of course, the Kennedy's.

We visited Astor's Beechwood on Monday.  John Jacob Astor IV is, of course, famous for being the Astor who died on the Titanic.  Today, their family "summer cottage" is a living history museum, and tours are given by actors portraying the Astor family, friends of the family and house staff.  We visited on a "Victorian Day", when all of the action takes place in 1891.  You are treated as guests of "THE" Mrs. Astor, who will be attending a dinner being given the following night (Patience said, "Are we coming back here  tomorrow night?? LOL LOL LOL).

The home is gorgeous.  We had the tour, and then went for a walk on the Cliff Walk, a 3.5 mile path right on the ocean that takes you past many of the mansions.
