Cranberry Thanksgiving, by Wende and Harry Devlin, is part of the Five in a Row curriculum--that's how we were introduced to the story, back when Eli was in 1st grade.
In this story, we meet Maggie, Grandmother and Mr. Whiskers (real name: Uriah Peabody), as they get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving. Grandmother makes her famous cranberry bread (we make it, too--the recipe is included at the end of the book!), carefully hiding the recipe when done. I don't want to give away the plot, but someone steals the recipe, and then another someone catches the thief and saves the day!
This book is out of print, but well worth requesting it from your library!
