Okay! (Said in my best Uncle Bob voice from Phineas and Ferb)
Book #1 was A Pair of Red Clogs by Masako Mizumura.

Enjoy the fun of shopping for new clogs--and playing the always fantastic Weather Game by flinging your clogs off of your feet (hey, it can't be less reliable than the local weatherman, can it?), AND learn a lesson about trying to deceive your parents. Never a good idea. :)
Book #2 was Wee Gillis by Munro Leaf.

How will Wee Gillis choose between his relatives in the Lowlands and his relatives in the Highlands? Maybe he won't need to make that choice at all! See that in-law relationships haven't changed that much since 1938 , when Leaf wrote this book & pick up on the importance of eating oatmeal for breakfast (it's all about the fiber, people!).
The kids loved both stories, and probably would have begged for more, if I didn't kick them off of the couch!
