First things first--WE HAVE AN APARTMENT!!! We got the call yesterday, and I will be dropping off the signed rental agreement (no lease, yeah!) with the security deposit tomorrow. Now that we have a place to live, I can start stressing about the $400/month rent increase. SIGH.
We were offered another apartment, but it was too small. Although our new home needs a lot of work (this is the apartment that the previous tenants had trashed), it was Steve's first choice. A side-by-side duplex, 3 bedrooms & bath upstairs (Eli's comment was "I've always longed for an upstairs."
), double living room (can we say OFFICE???), dining room, tiny galley kitchen downstairs, basement with little bit of storage and washer/dryer hookups. And the cats can come with us!
Today was absolutely nuts, though.
We dropped Steve off at the airport at 9:15am. He is in Baltimore until Friday. Very weird being home with the kids sleeping, knowing he's not coming home.
Then we stopped at home to give Maddie some Sudafed; I think she is catching the virus I had last week. Then it was off to the Warwick Police Station for a field trip! Very fun, very interesting!
Home for lunch--oh no! I forgot Eli's allergy appointment! I call them and they squeeze us in for 1:30. We wolf down lunch and out the door again.
After the allergy shot, we drove to Newport Hospital so that I could close out a Pampered Chef catalog show. I completely forgot that there is a toll on the Pell Bridge. I literally gave the man pennies for the $2 toll.
We had to wait for a while before the host met us, but thankfully some of her payments were in cash, so we had money to get back over the bridge!
A trip to the library was next. A gal from the FIAR message boards sent me a great unit study on St. Patrick. Our amazing librarian found the copy of the Tomie dePaola book we needed, even though some child had placed it in totally the wrong spot!!! She is awesome! I went in for one book, and came out with a stack and 3 movies (hey, Daddy's gone all week!). As long as we don't pack any we'll be fine.
While I caught up on email and phone calls, the kids watched disc 2 of Redwall--and ate their dinner while still watching it! Fish sticks & frozen corn--did I mention that Daddy is gone all week?
I packed 3 boxes in the girls' room--the Barbies, some Teddy Bears (they're discontinued, but they have names like Ashley Bear or something--it was a whole set), and the Polly Pockets. I don't even want to look at the rest of the room. They don't have a ton of toys, but both girls are pack rats...."Ohhhh, that's the string from the package I got on October 5th, 2001 at 2:11pm from Gracie....." . They hate throwing things out. They will live.
I got a ton of work done after the kids went to bed. Got in touch with one of next week's hosts--finally. Great--the show is still on! Emailed a few hosts, made host folders for March & April. I have more computer stuff to do, but I'm getting tired. And all I had for dinner was 2 fish sticks and some corn--I think I'll go pop in a movie and veg for a bit!
okay I am tired just reading your post! You habe so much going on ... I am so glad you got the apartment!
