What a full day! Wednesday is Steve's day off. It's usually a day full of errands, appointments and not much school work. I had a dr.'s appointment this morning (annual visit--lovely!
), and the kids actually got their math & phonics done--mostly--while I was gone.
After lunch (I made a kick-butt chicken salad with chopped celery, broccoli, carrots and cucumbers--YUM!) we went to look at an apartment. Its only about 5 minutes from where we live.
It is a 2nd floor apartment, 1 bath, 2 bedrooms with a dining room that can be used as a bedroom. So we'd be squeezing in. Only 2 closets. Kitchen was okay; the landlady said she had to buy a new refrigerator for the place. Laundry hook-ups in the basement.
But we didn't get to see the basement, because the lady scheduled another showing for while we were there! UGH! I hate that--the whole "there's competition, look, there are other people interested in this place" thing. Which would be fine, because I didn't like the place that much (I think the entire apartment was floored with linoleum!!), but Steve did.
I left the lady a message saying we were interested in filling out a rental application, but she hasn't called me back yet.
Of course, just looking at an apartment sent me into a frenzy of packing. I think I packed 7 boxes today. Plus pulled stuff out of the attic. We need about 3 million boxes for our books. I'm going to be giving away a bunch of them to a local library. I packed up all of our china, as well. Those were some heavy boxes. Serves Steve right; he won't let me give the china (that i picked out when I was 18 and don't even like the pattern anymore and we never use anyway!) away.
The kids watched "My Side of the Mountain" this evening. It's based on a book by Jean Craighead George about a boy who goes out to live in the wilderness. Maddie informed me afterward that she had thought about running away when she was younger, because she loves nature so much! LOL
Now I have dishes calling me--I'm trying to ignore them. And I really should make phone calls for Pampered Chef, but y'know--I just don't feel like it! I think I'm going to make a batch of popcorn and watch Sabrina with Harrison Ford. I watched the Humphrey Bogart version yesterday--I just can't decide which one I like better!
Tomorrow Girl Scout cookie orders are due---hmmm, how many boxes should I buy? Caramel Delights, Shortbread, Thin Mints...they're all so good!
