Finished!

One of my very few hobbies is cross-stitching.  It usually (I say usually, but that means "since the kids were born") takes more than a year for me to finish a pattern.  I have 2 waiting to be framed (no $$, honey!), and just finished another one today.  I use patterns mostly from Cross-Country Stitching magazine.

The one I finished today is for my friend, Sharon, who moved to California, so I brought it right to the finishing shop to be framed!  I don't want to pack it and lose it--it should be done before we move, and I'll ship it right out!

It feels nice to be done.  Now all of my cross-stitching supplies are packed, as I won't start a new project until we're settled into the new apartment, wherever that is!

One neat thing: the finishing shop I go to is one where my mom worked for years when I was younger, so I know the owners fairly well.  Eli was asking some questions about framing, so Steve (one of the owners) took the kids back to show them what the wood looked like, how he cuts it, and how he nails the pieces together.  Pretty cool!  He also showed us a sampler from 1789 that someone was having framed.  Amazing what such young girls did back then!

  1. Wow, I didn't realize how long ago you started your blog! I always enjoy reading about you and smiling--if I'm not already laughing. ;-)

Too bad you can't move to Wichita; housing here would blow you away because it's so "inexpensive"! We have a couple houses for sale in our neighborhood....

Regarding fleas on cats, I have to say that we've had the best success with using the plain ol' old-fashioned flea collars. They're a lot more affordable too. But you'd better get your money's worth out of that $88 first! :-)

  2. I have yet to ever finish a cross-stitch project. Now that my 8 year old daughter wants to learn I will have to break that awful habit :)

  3. Congratulations.

I know you work really hard on those cross stitches (is that the correct term?). Glad you finished it. I am sure it is beautiful. I remember you showing me what you had completed and what it would look like.
