Homegrown cantaloupe

A couple of years ago, Steve and Maddie started trying to grow cantaloupes.  We buy them often, so it made sense!  This is the first year that we've gotten one big (and ripe!) enough to eat.

You can see that it looks ridged, like a pumpkin. It never did get completely round, like the ones in the grocery store.
I wish I had measured it, but it must have been at least 7 inches in diameter.
It was very ripe--I'm glad we picked it when we did.  Sweet & delicious!  We have a few more out on the vine--we'll see if they ripen. :)

  1. Nice! We love cantaloupe. We tried growing them one year but it wasn't successful.
